oday, Avengers: Age of Ultron surpassed $1 billion World Wide. If that does not give you any indicator of how popular the Avengers are, take a look at what Samsung tweeted today. Avenger fanboys can start drooling as Samsung has officially announced they will be releasing an Iron Man edition of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone. (It had better project holograms or I’m out!)
At this time we only have an image that Samsung tweeted, and sadly the image is not of the actual smartphone, but rather a box. This is a rather cool looking box, but still just a box that we are assuming the smartphone will come in.
A couple of months ago, Seeko, a tech news website out of Korea published a lineup of possible S6 edge devices featuring Avenger characters. If the images provided by Seeko are any indication of what the Iron Man themed S6 will look like, we can expect a red and gold S6 Edge for Ironman. Although we are hearing some noise from Samsung that they will be releasing an Iron Man version of their headset, Seeko also leaked images of other mighty hero-inspired looks such as the Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawk Eye, and even Nick Fury.
While this news is exciting for many Avenger fans, Samsung did stipulate that the Iron Man S6 Edge headset availability would “differ by region”. It’s currently unclear as to which markets will be lucky enough to get their hands on the redesigned headset.
Pricing is another unknown variable. Is the new headset simply a change in design, or can we expect Samsung to pack a little more punch (specs) in the Iron Man smartphone, and how much will that punch add to the price tag? How can it be an Iron Man smartphone without the best hardware available?!
Samsung has excited many with the redesign of the Samsung Galaxy S6. Gone are the days of the plastic body, cheap feel, and removable SD card. In fact, Samsung has done a complete 180 when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S6, and these rumors of more awesome design changes only confirms their determination to innovate.
Again, we only have a box at this time and hopefully our hopes and dreams will not be mashed to pieces. However, lets sustain hope that we will see the first Iron Man smartphone soon!
What are your thoughts? If Samsung is creating an Iron Man smartphone, do you think there is a large enough market to purchase it? Should we expect other Avenger smartphones to surface as indicated by Seeko? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
